On-call Removal

We provide On-Call Removal of boating hazards such as pilings, pieces of dock, trees etc. It is not as action packed as it sounds. Over the years we taught most reporting parties what to do when they find an object that is to large for them to remove. We ask them to tie it off to any fixed object i.e. seawall, dock or boat ramp.
LagoonKeepers.org follows up when daylight and weather conditions are the most favorable. Most of our reporting parties are law enforcement such as The United States Coast Guard, Florida Wildlife Commission, Palm Beach County Sheriffs Marine Unit, Town of Palm Beach Marine Unit, City of Riviera Beach Marine Unit, North Palm Beach Marine Unit, West Palm Beach Marine Unit, Tequesta Marine Unit, Sailfish Club, Boca Raton Resort and Spa, Sailfish Marina, Town of Palm Beach Docks and Jupiter Pointe Marina to name a few.

D.A.V.E. Initiative

Our "Derelict Abandoned Vessel Eradication Initiative" (D.A.V.E.) is a program that starts with keeping a database on every vessel anchored out in the navigable waters of Palm Beach County Intracoastal Waterways. By having this information we are able to notify the owner of any vessel in time of need for that vessel, i.e. if it breaks loose, takes on water or drags anchor; thus minimizing damage to the vessel, other property or the environment. We do not tow boats, catch boats or re-anchor boats, we notify owners so they can take care of their problem. Our priority is to try and remove boats while they are still floating. There are only two ways we can remove a vessel from the water, those are by owner permission  or Law Enforcement Directive. Each vessel we remove, a plan is made that is tailored to that vessel and the circumstance, i.e. depth of water, condition of the vessel etc. Sometimes it is as simple as waiting for low tide and pumping the vessel out and sometimes we have to hire a barge and crane. As of February 2018 LagoonKeepers.org has removed 304 vessels from the waters of Palm Beach County.

ABOUT

Prior to Lagoon Keepers being launched in 2003, yes, there were things being pulled out of waterways, but they were only things considered to be 'valuable.' We at Lagoon Keepers launched with a very specific mission: to keep waterways safe. We care about removing ALL marine debris, trash and large items - regardless of 'value' - that pose a danger to the environment and the boating community alike. We are able to achieve our goals through multiple levels of support and by by carefully orchestrating community assets.
